Global launch of Oppo Reno 12 series
After launching in China in May, reports suggest that the Reno 12 series will be available globally later this month, in June. In China, the Reno 12 and Reno 12 Pro were released with Dimensity 8250 and Dimensity 9200+ chipsets, respectively. But it is unclear if the same phones will be released in global markets.
The company showed off the above teaser image during the event. Although the company didn’t reveal much else about the Reno 12 series, the image suggests that the global market could get a standard variant and a Pro model. Expectations are such that the Oppo Reno 12 and Reno 12 Pro could feature a 6.7-inch 120Hz display with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.
Both devices are expected to pack a 5,000mAH battery with 80W SuerVOOC charging support. Camera specs of both have also been speculated. The Reno 12 packs a 50-megapixel primary sensor and the Pro version packs a 50-megapixel Sony IMX890 main sensor. The handset also packs a 50-megapixel telephoto camera with up to 20x digital zoom and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle shooter as well as a 50-megapixel front camera.
The phones come with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 onboard storage. They come with Android 14-based ColorOS 14.
The Oppo Reno 12 price in China starts at CNY 2,699, which is roughly Rs 31,000 for the 12GB + 256GB option, while the Reno 12 Pro is priced at CNY 3,399, roughly Rs 39,000, for the same configuration.
Oppo Find X Series
Oppo has announced that its Find X series will be returning to global markets after a short hiatus. The last flagship of the series that was made available in the global market was the Oppo Find X5.
This year, Oppo launched the Find X7 and Find X7 Ultra exclusively in China. Now, there is news that these devices will soon be launched in the global market along with a special Find X7 Ultra Satellite Edition.
Oppo AI development
Oppo has also said that all its smartphones will be equipped with AI by the end of this year. To this extent, the company has teamed up with giants like Microsoft, Google and MediaTek for generative AI or GenAI features. Oppo aims to bring advanced AI capabilities to improve the user experience. The brand’s focus will be on image processing, smart charging and natural language processing.
