OnePlus 15R has a bigger battery than the OnePlus 15, OnePlus reveals details ahead of India launch on December 17
OnePlus has officially confirmed the battery size of the upcoming OnePlus 15R. The device will pack a 7,400mAh battery, which is larger than the OnePlus 15’s 7,300mAh battery pack. However, this is less than the OnePlus Ace 6T, which was speculated to be a rebrand of the 15R.
OnePlus 15R is scheduled to launch later this month. Ahead of the release of the device, OnePlus has confirmed that the OnePlus 15R will come with a 7,4000mAh battery. This is larger than the OnePlus 15’s 7,300mAh capacity. However, this battery size is smaller than previous reports, which pointed to an 8,300mAh cell.
OnePlus confirms bigger battery for OnePlus 15R
According to OnePlus, the 7,400mAh battery pack in the OnePlus 15R is the largest ever fitted to any of their devices, indicating a deliberate move to meet the demand for greater endurance on mobiles. With this upgrade, the OnePlus 15R targets users who prioritize device longevity, especially those who use smartphones for gaming, video streaming or productivity on the go. OnePlus describes the device as “built to play and never stop”, with a clear emphasis on extended use.
Earlier reports had indicated that the OnePlus 15R could get an 8,300mAh battery, as the device was speculated to come with similar specs to the OnePlus Ace 6T available in China.
The battery is also manufactured using silicon nanostack technology, with 15% silicon content in the anode. According to OnePlus, the design offers high energy density and is engineered to retain at least 80% of its original capacity even after four years of use. OnePlus 15R has 80W fast charging support.
OnePlus 15R will have 165Hz AMOLED display
The OnePlus 15R will also have the same 165Hz 1.5K AMOLED display as the OnePlus 15. The display supports up to 1,800 nits brightness and can dim down to 1 nits with specific settings, meeting different lighting conditions and reducing eye strain. The screen has received TV Rhineland Intelligent Eye Care 5.0 certification, which may appeal to users who spend extended periods of time on their devices.
OnePlus 15R, what else we know
OnePlus also announced that the 15R’s camera is capable of recording video in 4K resolution at 120 frames per second, a feature previously exclusive to the OnePlus 15. Although OnePlus has not confirmed the sensors, the 15R is expected to have a dual rear camera setup.
The display will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 mobile platform, a chipset that OnePlus claims was “co-defined and co-optimized” with Qualcomm over a 24-month period. OnePlus 15R will be the first smartphone globally to be launched with this processor.
OnePlus 15R launch and expected price
OnePlus has said that both the OnePlus 15R and OnePlus Pad Go 2 will be fully revealed at a livestream launch event in Bengaluru, India on December 17, 2025.
The price of OnePlus 15R is not clear yet. However, it could be similar to the OnePlus 13R, which was launched in India for Rs 42,999.
