As the tech world is buzzing with back-to-back flagship launches, OnePlus is also preparing to unveil its new OnePlus 13 globally. Already launched in China, this much-awaited flagship from OnePlus brings significant upgrades in design, performance and features. Although OnePlus has not officially confirmed a global or Indian launch date, it is expected to arrive around January 2025, similar to the OnePlus 12 launch timeline earlier this year.
OnePlus will likely keep the specifications of the global variant similar to its Chinese counterpart, making the OnePlus 13 compete directly with offerings from Xiaomi, Vivo and Oppo in the premium segment. Let’s take a detailed look at what the OnePlus 13 features and how the new OnePlus flagship aims to make its mark in the flagship market.
New design and construction
The OnePlus 13 features a refreshed design with a flat rear panel along with a large 6.82-inch display. This year, OnePlus is offering its flagship in two design options: a smooth glass finish or a textured leather back, available in white, obsidian, and blue color options.
Another design change is to the camera island. While the rear camera module retains its signature circular design, it now includes subtle enhancements like silver accents around the lens. Additionally, the OnePlus 13 boasts impressive durability with IP68 and IP69 ratings, offering resistance to dust, water, and even high-pressure water jets.
Display
One of the main highlights of the upcoming OnePlus 13 is its display. The Chinese version features a 6.82-inch BOE X2 OLED panel with a sharp 2K resolution. It supports Dolby Vision for an immersive visual experience and offers a peak brightness of 4,500 nits for HDR content. Under standard conditions, the display promises up to 800 nits of brightness. The display of the new OnePlus 13 also includes a glove support feature, making it practical for users to operate the screen easily in cold climates.
Performance power with Snapdragon 8 Elite
Powering the OnePlus 13 is Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, built on a 3nm process. This processor promises significant upgrades in performance and energy efficiency for intensive multitasking and gaming. With up to 24GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage, this device promises to deliver powerful performance for more demanding users.
software update
In India, the OnePlus 13 will run on OxygenOS 15 based on Android 15. Although official update policies are yet to be revealed, it is expected that OnePlus will continue to support its devices with long-term updates. Users can expect at least four years of major OS upgrades and five years of security patches to ensure a secure experience in the future.
triple camera setup
The new OnePlus flagship in China includes a triple-camera setup: a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-808 primary sensor, a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-600 periscope lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 50-megapixel Samsung S5KJN5 ultrawide lens. Functions as a macro camera. For video, the OnePlus 13 supports 4K video recording at 60fps with Dolby Vision, while on the front there is a 32-megapixel camera for high-quality selfies and video calls.
Battery and Charging
Battery life is another area where the OnePlus 13 is expected to excel. The device packs a massive 6,000mAh battery, which promises up to two days of usage on a single charge. Charging options include 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging as well as magnetic wireless charging compatibility through supported accessories.
More new features
The new OnePlus 13 includes an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, which promises faster and more reliable unlocking, even with wet hands. OnePlus has also upgraded the vibration motor to enhance haptic feedback, providing a more engaging user experience during gaming and daily use.
Pricing and Availability
In China, OnePlus 13 price starts at 4,499 Yuan (roughly Rs. 53,111) for the base model with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. The top-tier variant with 24GB RAM and 1TB storage is priced at 5,999 Yuan (Rs 70,819). In India, pricing is expected to start around Rs 65,000, which will make it competitive in the premium flagship market.
