One person killed, another injured in shooting at Panama University

A youth was killed and another person was injured when a shooter opened fire at a rural branch of the University of Panama (UP) on Friday, June 7, 2024, according to police and university sources.
The shooting took place at the UP Veraguas Regional College, about 250 km west of the capital, where a group of agricultural science students had gathered.
According to a police source, investigation has been initiated into the case and no arrests have been made yet.
Shootings are very rare in Panama’s schools or universities.
Earlier on Friday, UP President Eduardo Flores confirmed that an unidentified assailant had opened fire on “a group of students”.
