Recently, a reel about the typical mannerisms Indians follow while serving food to guests created a stir on Instagram. The specific actions and words appealed to many users and won their hearts. The reel has over 18 million views so far. In the now viral video, digital creator Ankur Agrawal mimics a variety of mannerisms and gestures that he typically associates with Indian hospitality.

For example, he encourages the guest not to feel shy and enjoy the food wherever he wants. He “forces” the guest to eat extra rotis and extra servings of rice. He talks about how the appeal of eating out has diminished over time. He offers the guest a “famous dessert” that he can’t leave without tasting. He also asks the (invisible) assistant to make tea and show the guest where he can wash his hands. He insists that the guest leave his plate on the table and not take it to the kitchen himself.
