Vidya Balan pays tribute to MS Subbulakshmi wearing a Kanjeevaram saree
Bollywood actress paid tribute with her outfits Bharat Ratna M.S. Subbulakshmi revived the glory of the “original style icon” with some photos whose look was simple yet attractive. This is her Kanjivaram SareesBe laden with jasmine flowers, Kumkum And vibhuti tika Which are evergreen reminders of her presence in the fashion world and have become her symbol in every sense. Vidya Balan posted a reel on her Instagram handle which featured her playing the role of MS Subbulakshmi for a photoshoot and captioned it, “On her 108th birth anniversary, I am honoured and overjoyed to be able to pay a photographic tribute to “Bharat Ratna” MS Subbulakshmi (MS Amma) who was fondly referred to as the ‘Queen of Music’ by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and ‘Nightingale of India’ by Sarojini Naidu. This is a humble tribute from @anuparthasarathy and me to the Legend MS Subbulakshmi – The Original Style Icon who exemplified simplicity with great grace,
This feature showcases four sarees that M.S. Amma wore and popularised between the 60s and 80s and is a portrayal of M.S. Amma’s concert personality.
If the rich, vibrant and unique saris were one part of M.S.Amma’s look, the other part was the simple supporting attire which included the traditional kumkum and vibhuti on her forehead, two distinctive nose pins on either side and a kondai (louse) adorned with mallipoo (jasmine).”

- Joining hands with costume designer Anu Parthasarathy, Vidya Balan achieved perfection as she paid tribute to the 'original style icon' MS Subbulakshmi.
- Bestowed the title of 'Nightingale of India' by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, MS Subbulakshmi had a magnetic confidence and personality that attracted people. Her appearance was simple yet attractive, to which her sweet voice added five stars.
- Vidya Balan described MS Subbulakshmi's concert persona as defined by her four personalities. Kanjivaram Sarees Which she wore between the 1960s and 1980s.
- MS Subbulakshmi's style was partly defined by her liveliness, Zari border-wide silk Kanjivaram Sarees.The other half was made up of a simple yet impactful selection of accessories that were her own signature.
