NPCI launches UPI One World for foreign guests ahead of India AI Impact Summit
NPCI has launched UPI One World Wallet service for foreign delegates attending the India AI Impact Summit 2026. The service enables international travelers to conduct real-time person-to-merchant (P2M) transactions during the summit (and at airports) without the need for a local bank account or Indian mobile number.

India Impact Summit 2026 officially begins today. The five-day summit (16-20 February) will host representatives from several countries. People from Silicon Valley will also be present. Keeping this in mind, National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has launched UPI One World, a UPI-powered payments service exclusively for representatives from over 40 countries. The service, which is currently in the pilot phase, will allow seamless person-to-merchant (P2M) transactions at New Delhi International Airport and Summit, without the need for an Indian bank account or mobile number.
“UPI is the world’s largest real-time payments system,” said Sohini Rajola, Executive Director (Growth), NPCI. The ‘UPI One World’ service at the India AI Impact Summit gives foreign delegates a first-hand look at India’s digital payments innovation. “This initiative provides a glimpse of how streamlined cross-border payments systems can foster a more interconnected global digital economy,” Rajola said.
The wallet is available through authorized issuers at the NPCI Pavilion at New Delhi International Airport and the summit venue. Using international debit or credit cards, passengers can fund the wallet by scanning the standard UPI QR code and complete the transaction. The service allows a maximum load of Rs 25,000 per transaction, subject to a monthly limit of Rs 50,000. Any unspent balance at the end of the journey may be refunded to the original payment source in accordance with applicable foreign exchange rules.
How to use UPI One World
First, download the CheqUPI app powered by Transcorp from the official app store on Android or iOS. After installation, you will need to register by providing your passport and visa information. Complete identity verification by uploading a selfie and creating a UPI PIN. Once the system approves your application, you will receive a unique UPI ID. Finally, load the funds into your wallet using your international debit or credit card.
International travelers can avoid the hassle of carrying cash or dealing with complicated currency exchange. The launch from NPCI comes at a time when UPI is already continuing its remarkable growth trajectory, processing 21.70 billion transactions in January 2026 alone. Through this integration at the India AI Impact Summit, NPCI aims to showcase India’s digital public infrastructure capabilities to global policy makers and technology leaders.
