After the launch of Nothing Phone 2, the CEO gave information about the upcoming flagship – Nothing Phone 3. Nothing CEO Kail Pei came up with a detailed post on X explaining how the new device will be equipped with AI features. Also, Pei clearly stated that Nothing Phone 3 will arrive in 2025.

The 2025 launch suggests that it will be much delayed compared to the annual refresh cycle of a typical high-end smartphone. The Nothing Phone 1 was launched in India in 2022 and the latest flagship, the Nothing Phone 2, was launched in July 2023. But this upcoming device coming after a gap of two years is a sign of a major upgrade. Pei revealed that the Nothing Phone 3 will be completely based on AI.

Contrary to the trend of following AI left, right, and center, Nothing Phone 3 looks like they are taking their time to integrate AI in the upcoming flagship. According to Pei, the smartphone user experience hasn’t evolved much in over a decade. In his post, he also said, “We (Nothing) are designing and prototyping AI interactions,” hinting at the company’s next flagship smartphone, the Nothing Phone 3, and its AI features.

In the AI ​​era, the Nothing CEO aims to make the upcoming model more fun. In a video shared on X, Pei and his team explained the initial AI features they discovered. He explained how the Nothing Phone 3 will be the center of a highly personalized experience.

The upcoming Nothing Phone 3 will have AI deeply integrated with the operating system to deliver a personalized user experience. According to the video, re-imaging of the home screen could be the first upgrade of the Nothing Phone 3.

The company shared a demo of their AI chatbot integrated into their device. Although it looked like GPT 4o, they confirmed that they will be adding proactive type capabilities to the device. Pei also suggested that the company’s next smartphone will “integrate hardware and AI in a way that is both useful and brings smiles to people’s faces.” He further claimed that in the future, there will be no separate apps. But similar attempts in recent times, such as the Humane AI Pin and the promoted AI devices like the Rabbit R1 have been largely unsuccessful due to their software and functionality limitations.

If Nothing lives up to expectations of bringing user interface innovation where the device is so personal it’s almost like a best friend, as promised, then the Nothing Phone 3 could be a real hit. But real details will have to wait until next year.
