Gulshan Devaiah was recently in the news for saying that he is not friends with Ulj co-star Janhvi Kapoor. In a recent interview with Galta India, the actor recalled the same comment and said that it is not just a reference to one actress but he is not friends with most of his co-stars.
“I have worked with Taapsee, she is like that, even I have worked with Rajkummar Rao, and we have shared happiness with each other. We don’t sit and talk about life, we are not friends,” Gulshan, 46, told PTI. Gulshan emphasised that it is not necessary to be friends with co-stars to work effectively with them, just like we usually get our work done without being friends with our colleagues.
Gulshan played Rajkummar’s love interest in Badhaai Do, while she was cast opposite Taapsee in Blurr. Devaiah then clarified his statement about Janhvi that went viral like wildfire and said that he only wanted to say that there doesn’t need to be a vibe between two people for there to be chemistry. The Shaitan actor said, “I am very aware of the online trolling that Janhvi has received in the past, and I think it gets too much sometimes and it crosses the line.”

Gulshan feels that he and Janhvi are professional artistes, and not ‘friends’. He also admitted that the actress is quite reserved, and he has no problem with that, nor does he want her to get friendly with him. “Some people look at it like, ‘Oh, she comes from a filmy family, she doesn’t mix with outsiders’. She is not like that, she is very respectful like that,” Devaiah asserts.
Talking about work, Gulshan and Janhvi were recently seen in Sudhanshu Saria’s film ‘Uljhan’. Produced by Junglee Pictures and shot in India and London, the spy thriller also featured Roshan Mathew and Adil Hussain. The film, which revolved around a young IFS officer with a legacy of patriots, flopped at the box office.
Devaiah will soon be seen in Love Affair which is being directed by Soni Razdan under the banner of T-Series and Fish Eye Network Pvt Ltd. It also stars Ali Fazal, Kalki Koechlin and Chandan Roy Sanyal in pivotal roles.
