Nostalgia Max: Prince of Persian remake is coming and this is a big thing for gamers in India
The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time has been designed for release in 2026. Now, I am not expecting something big or fancy from the remake. I just want the game to feel like the old prince of Persia whom we loved gamers in our teens.
Listen to the story

As long as I can remember, I am playing AAA games, but what has really been with me is the prince of Persia: The to Thrones. Yes, this piece is about the sand of time, but like many fans, my journey did not begin in chronological order. For me, it all began in the late 90s, playing the role of Persia’s original prince on my uncle’s old Windows computer. But it was not for several years later, in 2008, when I picked up two throne, which was properly tilted at the franchise. I had heard friends at school talking about the Prince of Persia, and when I decided to get my own DVD from a nearby CD store – when they were still angry.

I did not even realize at that time that the two thrones were the last game in a trilogy. I knew that it had a fantastic gameplay, a entertaining story, and your head had a quiet voice of the dark prince. It was a gaming experience like no other. Soon after, I discovered time and warrior sand, and then went back to play both of them.
Subsequently, the lunch break in the school often turned into animated discussions as to who had reached the game. We did not just talk about the prince of Persia, of course – this was about NFS Most Wanted, GTA Vice City, Max Payne, and many others. But, at that time, the prince of Persia stood near me, just as for other Indian gamers at that time.
Of the trilogy, the sand of time is definitely most important. It sets tone-from the-time-yield mechanics to sword quarrels, riddles and wall runs. The atmosphere, music and storytelling gave it a different personality, and even though two throne felt more polished, the sand of time is where the magic began.
UBISOFT later used a reboot in 2008 with a new art style and character. This was not bad, but there was no only appeal in it. However, Forgotton Sands, released in 2010, felt close to the original trilogy, and visually, it was surprising to the time.

So when Ubisoft announced a remake of the sand of time in 2020, many fans were quite excited. But thereafter there was a series of delays, so much that some people believed that the project was quietly shelter.
By May 2025, Fast-forward, Ubisoft has officially confirmed that the game is still on track, now set for 2026 release. While the details are limited, the report states that it will not be a simple remover. The game is being made from the ground, with better animation, modern fighter mechanics and a fresh view direction. It is even a matter of casting a new actor of Persian origin as a prince, the place of Yuri Lowwaythl, who gave voice to the character in the original trilogy.
Back to the day, for gamers like me in India, the Prince of Persian action-adventure style had a gold standard, which was long ago ahead of the titles such as unwanted and killer creeds. For many Indian gamers that grew up in the 2000s, it was one of the true cinematic gaming experiences earlier on PCs. It was accessible, memorable and fun – the kind of game you lend to a friend, then ring them to check if they will cross a certain level.
It looks forward to me for the upcoming remake. Now, I am not expecting something big or fancy. I just want the game to feel like the old prince of Persia whom we loved gamers in our teens. Time Rewinds, Puzzles, Wall run, the sword fights – those things that made the sand of time fun. I hope Ubisoft will keep all of them, while giving us better graphics, smooth control, and perhaps giving us some small new things here and there.

The Prince of Persian series meant enough for many people like me who grew up playing these games. This helped defines a generation of the action-adventure games and introduced mechanics that were ahead of their time. It would be great if they not only brought back the sand of time, but also saw the full trilogy. Maybe if this remake works well, we will also receive a remake of two thrones within the warrior. This will be a dream. It has been a long wait, but if Ubisoft delivered, I will be ready for another run through the story that started all this.
