The Jerusalem Post reported that amidst the row on its ‘Gaza Yojana’, US President Donald Trump said that no one would be “expelled” from the strip.
He commented on Wednesday (local time) before his meeting with Irish Prime Minister Mitchell Martin at the White House.
In his statement with Martin, Trump said, “Nobody is expecting anyone from Gaza.”
During his meeting with Martin, he also called the US Senate minority leader Chak Shumar “A Palestinian”.
Trump said, “Shumar is a Palestinian as far as I have a question. He has become a Palestinian. He used to be a Jew. He is no longer a Jew. He is a Palestinian.” In February, he made a similar statement about Shumar in a post shared on his social media platform Truth Social social.
Martin said that Martin said that the aid needs to be increased in Gaza and with a ceasefire, the release of the hostages organized by Hamas since October 7, 2023, as per the report of the Jerusalem post on Israel.
Earlier in December, Israel announced the closure of its embassy in Ireland, citing the country’s “anti -Israel policies”. The Jerusalem Post reported that the decision came a week after Ireland expressed support for South Africa’s action against Israel in Justice, Israel, accusing Israel of massacre.
The US President’s comment on Gaza comes after his statement in February, where he said that the US would capture the Gaza strip, eliminate dangerous weapons, get rid of destroyed buildings and work for the economic development of the region.
Addressing a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump said, “America will capture the Gaza Strip and we will do one thing with it. We will be its owners and will be responsible for destroying all dangerous unclear bombs and other weapons on the site.
Meanwhile, Arab Foreign Ministers on Wednesday agreed to continue and coordinate with Trump’s Special Envoy Steve Witcoff on the Gaza Reconstruction Scheme proposed by Egypt during a meeting in Doha. The joint statement stated that the Gaza strip will continue to consult on the plan with Witchoff as “base for reconstruction efforts”.
