Noah Centineo reprises his iconic character Peter Kavinsky from To All the Boys I’ve Loved in the latest season of its spin-off show XO, Kitty. In an interview with People magazine, the actor revealed how Kavinsky’s comeback came about.
Of returning to the role after the premiere of the third part of the trilogy in 2021, he said, “It’s not – it’s challenging. It’s extremely scary.” Created into the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before trilogy book series, he couldn’t turn it down.
Centineo may have been scared of the “risk” of playing Kavinsky again, but it was worth it because of actress Anna Cathcart, who played Kitty. Centineo said, “I love Anna so much. She’s doing such an incredible job and I would do anything to support her.”
The actor played Lara Jean Song Covey’s (Lana Condor) boyfriend in the original film franchise in which Kitty (Cathcart) played cupid between his sister and Kavinsky by sending her secret letters.
The spin-off series revolves around Kitty as she travels through her high school life in South Korea. Centineo continued to praise Cathcart for being a hard-working and professional actress. She also revealed that out of all the cast members in To All the Boys, she was the most “prepared”. “She deserves it,” he said.
XO, there had to be a Peter Kavinsky cameo in Kitty! Coincidentally, Centineo was shooting the second season of his Netflix series, The Recruit, in Seoul while the cast was filming the spin-off series there. Producer Matt Kaplan called the actor and asked if he would do a cameo since he was filming in the city. “I said, ‘Sure,'” Centineo recalled.
XO, Kitty Season 2 is available to stream on Netflix.
