The Delhi High Court has allowed Bollywood actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan protection on its personality rights, stating that her name, image or unauthorized business use of equality has violated her right to live with dignity.

Justice Tejas Karia stopped several institutions from misusing the actor’s personal characteristics, including his equality and identity markers, for commercial advantage without his consent. The court said that such misuse not only causes financial loss, but also damages its dignity and reputation.
The order stated that any violation of the plaintiff’s personality rights, while the plaintiff creates confusion among the members of the public about support or sponsorship of a product or service, will also be due to the prestige of the plaintiff and the weakening of goodwill. ,
The court noticed that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is one of the most famous figures in Indian entertainment and has served as a brand ambassador for many companies. Justice Kariya said, “He has achieved significant goodwill and prestige that public members repeat their beliefs in brands supported by him.”
The ruling strengthened protection for celebrities famous against unauthorized exploitation of his identity, including advertisements, goods, and digital media, and confirms that personality rights are closely associated with a person’s fundamental right to life and dignity under Article 21 of the Constitution.
