John Abraham recently talked about transferring the previous body stereotypes, the media’s attention was focused on his look, and choosing meaningful films that add their legacy. He said that in his early days, he promoted his body with roles in films like ‘Doostana’ and ‘Force’, but now, as a producer, he wants to change that image. He still shared with India that while Bollywood used to be male-oriented, things have changed and the difference between men and women in the industry is now very small.

In a special interview with India Today Consulting Editor, Rajdeep Sardasai, actor John Abraham talked about being label for his body. He said, “It was a monkey on my back, but listen that I am not apologizing to the body. I mean I was in ‘Dorostana’, after 15 years I had this ‘plateau’ – just the color of shorts was different, a yellow and a white. So I would definitely do action films.

“I will do older people, but yes, I think there was more pressure from the media, who kept reminding me that ‘Hey it’s about the body, it’s about the body, it’s about the body, it’s about the body’ and I am not, I believe, I am going to give you something else. So when I became a manufacturer, I was not doing the first time; a year;

John also admitted that he was always in fitness, but saw his body as an early marketing tool in his career. “Always. But you know, I am also a marketing person. So if it was about the body, I will marketing the body. And was talking about what your body’s market meant? I mean I mean that I have deployed myself as a person who has a body to show there. So if this domination was roaming out of water, if it was the most, I was the most,” Said.

On the subject of gender inequality in Hindi cinema, John saw, “It is not as much a macho-oriented industry as it used to. The lines have become very blurred to a great extent.”

John Abraham was last seen in Netflix Spy Drama ‘The Diplomat’, directed by Shivam Nair, who roamed around the American Embassy in Iran and followed the story of Uzma, a woman from Delhi who travels to Malaysia for work, but got stuck in Pakistan. His Next release, ‘Tehran’The Zee5 is ready to premiere on 14 August just before Independence Day.
