Thalapathy Vijay’s upcoming film Jana Nayagan continues to generate intense buzz, especially after the makers released a new poster on Thursday, November 6. The poster release comes just after Vijay was officially announced as the chief ministerial candidate for his political party, Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK).
Jan Nayakan to release on 9 January 2026
The team behind Jan Nayakan has confirmed that the film will release in theaters on January 9, 2026, putting to rest recent rumors about a possible postponement. The film, which is Vijay’s last film before his full entry into politics, is directed by H. Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions.
The production house shared the new poster on X (formerly Twitter) and captioned it, “Let’s begin.” The poster shows Vijay standing amidst a huge crowd wearing a blue shirt and aviator sunglasses, symbolizing his image as a people’s leader. The visuals are in line with the film’s title, which translates to People’s Hero, reflecting Vijay’s growing political identity.
Here’s what the new poster tells fans
The new Jan Nayakan poster doubles the launch of the film’s promotional campaign. It shows Vijay in an imposing yet down-to-earth avatar, surrounded by the masses, an image that matches his new political chapter. The poster drop, coinciding with the announcement of his CM candidature, appears to bridge the transition between his reel and real life as a mass leader.
Earlier this year, the makers had unveiled the first-look poster of the film, which featured Vijay wearing a denim shirt and black jeans and taking a selfie with an enthusiastic crowd, symbolizing his connection with the common man. The first single of the film is also expected to be released soon.
Jana Nayakan stars Pooja Hegde in the lead role, alongside Bobby Deol, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, Mamita Baiju and Gautham Vasudev Menon. Reports suggest that filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj, Atlee and Nelson Dilipkumar will play cameo roles.
The music for the film has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander, who has reunited with Vijay for this big entertainer. The film is said to take inspiration from Balakrishna’s hit film Bhagwant Kesari, promising a strong mix of emotion and action.
