On X, Ashwini Vaishnav confirmed a report by Economic Times. He confirmed that Apple has crossed the huge milestone of $50 billion in iPhone exports from India alone. When converted into Indian Rupees it is approximately Rs 4.51 lakh crore. “In a major milestone for Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji’s ‘Make in India’ and our quest to become a productive economy, Apple will ship mobile phones worth $50 billion in 2025,” Vaishnav wrote.

According to the report, Apple shipped iPhones worth $16 billion from India in the first nine months of FY26. The PLI scheme has played a significant role in this growth, attracting global players like Apple and Samsung to manufacture in India. While Samsung has reportedly shipped devices worth about $17 billion from FY2021 to FY2025, Apple’s strategic push in India has led to major growth in the domestic industry. There are currently five iPhone factories in India – three operated by Tata and two by Foxconn – serving the supply chain of around 45 companies, including many MSMEs.

Indian electronics exports increased 8 times

In the same post, Ashwini Vaishnav reported that the overall growth of the electronics industry in India, from production to exports, indicates a growth of 6 times and 8 times respectively. He informed, “Electronics production has increased 6 times in the last 11 years. And electronics exports have increased 8 times under the focused leadership of PM Modi ji.”

According to the Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, electronics products are now among the top 3 exported items of the country and are not limited to smartphones only. Vaishnav said there are “46 component manufacturing projects, laptop, server and hearable manufacturers”, which are a major driving force of the industry.

He also confirmed, “Four semiconductor plants will begin commercial production this year.”
