After years of speculation, Amazon MGM has officially confirmed that Dennis Villainuway would direct the 26th James Bond film – it is the first 007 installment under the leadership of a new studio. The dune director has stepped into one of the most prestigious roles of cinema behind the camera.
Villainuway has also promised both reverence for the franchise and a new trajectory for the series. With an estimated 2028 release, the film remains in early development, but the studio is already possible leading leads and authors.
Villainuway vision and new era of Amazon
Dennis Villainyuway, whose filmography includes Blade Runner 2049, arrival and sicario, in a statement called Bond “Sacred Territory”, which accepted his lifetime praise for the detective series. He joins the project as an executive manufacturer with Tanya Lapoint, but does not deal a final cut or multi-film.
The upcoming film Bond indicates a major change in the franchise – which is tightly controlled by the Broccoli family, who abandoned Amazon’s creative rights earlier this year after six decades of stewardship.
With Dune: Messiah already in pre-production, the bond version of the villainuway will not enter the entire production on full scale for at least two years. Nevertheless, source diversity explains that the studio is accelerating development by demanding a script writer and finalizing casting preferences.
Casting Focus: Will there be a small James Bond?
Allegedly, Amazon MGM is targeting actors under 30 for the next James Bond. Early favorite includes Jacob Alardi, known for enthusiasm and salt; Tom Holland, Spider-Man’s Star and Unwanted; And Harris Dicinson, who appeared in Malphicant: Mistress of Evil and Babigarl.
While no official conversation has started, the studio appears with the intention of the bond’s rejuvenation with the new generation. Older fans such as Henry Cavil and Aaron Taylor-Johnson are allegedly out of controversy due to age.
Jonathan Nolan was considered to write the script, to write the internal sources per internal, but there is a possibility of their current commitments to other Amazon projects. A shortlist of other authors is being reviewed as the studio may have a very different bond film in size.
