In a direct address to the people of Iran, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sent a clear and forceful message on Monday. The Israeli leader’s speech, delivered in English and subtitled in Persian, offered both a warning to the Iranian regime and reassurance to its citizens. The message comes amid Israel’s escalating actions against Iran-backed groups in the Middle East.
Netanyahu condemned Iran’s leadership for reportedly prioritizing regional conflicts over the welfare of its people. “Every day, you see a regime that takes you under its wing and makes fiery speeches about defending Lebanon, defending Gaza,” Netanyahu said. He said the Iranian government was “plunging the region into darkness and deeper into war.”
Referring to Iran’s support for Hezbollah and Hamas, groups involved in violent conflict with Israel, Netanyahu said Iran’s proxies were being systematically targeted. “Iran’s puppets are being eliminated,” he said. He also said that “There is no place we will not go to protect our people.”
He said, “With every passing moment, the regime is bringing you – the great Persian people – closer to the abyss.” “The vast majority of Iranians know that their regime doesn’t care about them at all. If it cared, if it cared about you, it would stop wasting billions of dollars on meaningless wars throughout the Middle East. Will start improving.
“Imagine if all the money wasted by the regime on nuclear weapons and foreign wars was invested in your children’s education, improving your health care, building your country’s infrastructure, water, sewage and everything else you need. Was. Imagine it.”
Netanyahu envisioned a new era of peace between Israel and Iran, predicting a future where Iran would be free from theocratic rule. He expressed confidence that change would come “sooner than people think”. According to Netanyahu, post-rule Iran will enjoy prosperity through global investment, tourism and technological progress.
He said, “When Iran is finally free – and that moment will come much sooner than people think – everything will be different.” “Our two ancient peoples, the Jewish people and the Persian people, will finally live in peace. Our two countries, Israel and Iran, will live in peace.
“When that day comes, the terrorist network built by the regime across five continents will be bankrupt, destroyed. Iran will flourish as never before: global investment; massive tourism; brilliant talent based inside Iran There will be no technological innovation.” Does this sound better than endless poverty, oppression and war?”
This direct message comes in the wake of Israel’s intensified operations against Iranian proxies. Days before Netanyahu’s statement, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) carried out a major airstrike that killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah at the group’s headquarters in Beirut. A senior Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) officer also reportedly lost his life in the attack. Nasrallah’s death has been celebrated by anti-regime Iranians around the world.
“You deserve better. Your children deserve better. The whole world deserves better. I know you don’t support the rapists and murderers of Hamas and Hezbollah, but your leaders do. You deserve more.” The people of Iran must know that Israel stands, “Together with you we can realize a future of prosperity and peace.”
Following Nasrallah’s assassination, reports emerged that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was moved to a secure location amid fears of further Israeli action.
Tensions between Israel and Iran reached new heights earlier this year when Iran launched more than 300 missiles and drones at Israel in response to an alleged Israeli attack in Syria, killing several high-ranking IRGC officials. The vast majority of those missiles were intercepted by Israeli defense systems, with support from the US-led coalition. Israel responded to Iran’s actions with a limited drone strike targeting a nuclear research center in Isfahan.
Nasrallah’s killing also comes amid Israel’s campaign against Hezbollah in Lebanon, which has seen frequent cross-border attacks against Israel, allegedly in solidarity with Hamas during the ongoing war with Israel in Gaza. Israel has steadily increased its attacks on Hezbollah targets, causing significant losses to the group’s leadership. Earlier in the month, mysterious explosions caused by Israel destroyed Hezbollah’s communications equipment, injuring thousands and intensifying the ongoing conflict.
