After a tornado premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, director Neeraj Ghaywan thanked the entire team of ‘Homebound’ for his efforts and hard work behind the project.
In a hearty and layered post, Ghaywan celebrates the success of ‘not only’Homebound ‘ But the spotlight on the incredible team behind it also changed, which presents a rare, back and forth in the production of the film.
He also told what happened behind the concept of this idea and how he landed to write the whole film.
In a series of posts on X, he wrote, “All this began with the article” Emit Home “, which was written by Basharat Peer for the New York Times. After introducing me to it, Somen Mishra. (The creator) gave me the idea of directing the film to Basharat and he was excited about the possibility.
As I read it, the story cried something inside me to come to life. I traveled with Bashrat to meet the families depicted in the article. I was even more sure that I wanted to pursue this story after meeting him. This reflected me on my life and I told me in the story. Basharat, your article and without your guidance, the homebound journey would never begin. I am grateful to you (SIC). ,
Subsequently, the director discussed that the difficult part came when he had to prepare a full-length feature screenplay.
Ghaywan, celebrated for his direction, accepted to write a full feature film he had, “Writing a full feature film was a difficult undertaking for me. Sumit Roy arrived as a rescueer. Although he is credited as a story and a centers of a script, his contribution is beyond this. He shook me through a dark phase.
He even accepted the assistance of Shoaib Nazir for the project. He said, “During our writing phase, Shoaib Nazir assisted us. Not only did he do valuable research, but also gave specific cultural insights into the screenplay. Thanks, Shoaib, to be a bounced board (SIC), for,” he said.
The director also thanked Martin Scorscie for joining the project. “His response to the screenplay you shared with us were actually useful in bringing a sharp focus (SIC)” he wrote.
The film was written by Neeraj Ghaywan and Sumit Roy. It is produced by Karan Johar, other Poonwal, Apoorva Mehta and Somen Mishra, with support of co-produced Marizk de Suja and Melita Toscan du planter. In a huge boost, legendary Hollywood director Martin Scorscie has joined the project as an executive manufacturer.
Neeraj Gaywan is already known for his first film ‘Masons’ internationally, who also premiered in Cannes and won two big awards there.
