The National Commission for Women (NCW) has summoned Nora Fatehi, Sanjay Dutt and the makers of the song Sarke Chunar for a hearing on March 24 following allegations of obscenity and sexually suggestive material.

NCW (National Commission for Women) has started action against the makers of the song Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke. The nominated parties have been asked to appear before the Commission on March 24 with relevant documents.

The NCW issued an ex post which read, “The National Commission for Women, in exercise of its powers under the NCW Act, 1990, has taken suo motu cognizance of media reports alleging obscenity and obscenity in the song.” Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke. Considering that the content prima facie appears to be sexually suggestive, objectionable and violates the provisions under the Indian Justice Code, IT Act and POCSO Act, the Commission has taken the matter seriously.

The statement concluded, “Summons have been issued to actress Nora Fatehi, Rakib Alam, actor Sanjay Dutt, Venkat K. Narayan (Producer, KVN Group) and Kiran Kumar (Director) directing them to appear before the Commission. They have been asked to appear before the Commission on 24.03.2026 at 12:30 pm. Failure to appear may invite appropriate action as per law.”

On Wednesday, actor-dancer Nora Fatehi talked about the controversy surrounding her song. Sarke Chunar from the upcoming movie kdthe devil. She said that she does not understand the Kannada language in which the original song is composed. Sarse NinnaComposed, and said that she was unaware of the Hindi version of the song, Sarke Chunar.

Nora mentioned that once she heard the Hindi version of the track – a language she is familiar with – she immediately warned the director that the song might face a negative response.

The song recently came under fire for its alleged vulgar lyrics and choreography, with the Hindi version receiving sharp criticism online. The matter escalated so much that the I&B Ministry (Ministry of Information and Broadcasting) assured the Parliament that the song had been banned. Following the outcry, the makers have removed the Hindi version from YouTube.

The producers and cast have not yet responded to NCW’s statement.
