Nyanko-sensei, attracted to the dragon as a symbol of good fortune, encourages them to search for it, though it proves elusive. Soon after, Natsume encounters Chobi, who appears upset after breaking a beloved, beautiful comb.
Natsume will be inspired to find a replacement, sympathizing with Chūbi’s attachment to the object. He will seek the help of Nyanko-sensei and gather other youkai that form The Dog’s Circle to aid Natsume in Book of Friends Season 7 Episode 5.
Natsume’s Book of Friends Season 7 Episode 4 Recap
Natsume’s Book of Friends Season 7 Episode 4, titled ‘Depth of the Page’, begins when Natsume and his friend Kitamoto visit an old bookstore that Kitamoto remembers from his childhood. Kitamoto wants to surprise his father by giving him a book from the store.
However, Natsume senses the presence of youkai and suggests they leave. Later, he and Nyanko-sensei follow Kitamoto, who has been spirited away by Kaeda, a yokai who lives in the shop and stands guard for the sleeping elderly owner.
Kaeda reveals that a dangerous youkai named Dei has escaped his seal, and is hidden in cursed spell books. Natsume himself suffers from the curse of the light tongue in Natsume’s Book of Friends Season 7 Episode 4, while Kitamoto’s wrists and shoulders are affected, draining his energy.
With Kaeda’s guidance, Natsume eventually captures Dei, allowing Kaeda to seal him back in, though the power surge tires Natsume. The next day, Kaida shares her plans to return to her book to recover, and Natsume subtly bids farewell, appreciating her quiet kindness.
