August 16 was one of the memorable days for actress Nithya Menen’s career as she won her first National Award for her brilliant performance in the Dhanush starrer film. Although Nithya Menen has been a part of many commercially successful films, she has never shied away from playing experimental roles. She played a lesbian psychiatrist in the Telugu film FearIn which the issue of homosexuality has been raised sensitively.

She was also seen in Udhayanidhi Stalin’s film as an abusive former police officer. crazyWho is on a mission to catch the killer. Not only serious roles, but Nithya Menon has also tried comedy, which is natural for her.

In 2017, Nithya Menen was paired opposite Thalapathy Vijay in the film MersalThis commercial film directed by Atlee featured Kajal Aggarwal, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Nithya Menen in the lead roles. Out of the three actresses, it was Nithya Menen who emerged as a strong character despite having less screen time.

In an exclusive interview with IndiaToday.in, Menon spoke about not succumbing to cliches when choosing scripts. She said, “Of course! But it’s not something I decided when I entered the industry. As the years go by and when I hear stories, I can’t do it if it doesn’t make sense to me. It’s that simple.”
