Namit Malhotra says that Hans Zimmer called Ramayana beyond time and human imagination
‘Ramayana’ producer Namit Malhotra recently opened his discussion with Oscar winning composer Hans Zimmer. He praised Zimmer for his understanding of ancient Indian epic.

‘Ramayana’ producer Namit Malhotra recently shared his conversation with Oscar winning composer Hans Zimmer. He remembered the understanding of Zimmer’s ancient epic and how emotional he felt about it.
During a podcast with Prakhar GuptaMalhotra interacted with Zimmer. He said that the composer stopped him the medieval discussion related to ‘Ramayana’.
The manufacturer quoted Zimmer, saying, “This is clearly something beyond us. You and I do not need to explain it.”
He further quoted the ‘The Lion King’ composer and said, “You (Ramayana) do not need to explain it to me.
Malhotra is also the founder and non-executive director of Prime Focus Limited, the original company of the visual impact studio DNEG. In addition, he acts as the chairperson and CEO of DNEG.
Speaking about ‘Ramayana’ in the same podcast, Malhotra emphasized the need to change the Western perception about India. He said, “I was so, ‘No, it’s not we are. This is not the place where my main power and energy comes. Ramayana has become the story for me. How to take it and present something that is the development of the planet, it is the first civilization in the world? It is the largest in the world.”
The upcoming two-part film series is based on the epic fighting of Lord Ram and Ravana.
‘Ramayana’ includes Lord Rama as Ranbir Kapoor, Siel Pallavi as Goddess Sita, and ‘KGF’ actor Yash Ravana. Sunny Deol will portray Lord Hanuman and Ravi Dubey in the film.
The first glimpse of ‘Ramayana’, the characteristic of Ranbir and Yash, recently received a lot of praise. The epic-drama marks the music cooperation between Zimmer and AR Rahman.
Set for IMAX, the first part of ‘Ramayana’ is slated to release during Diwali 2026, with the second part in Diwali 2027.
