"my highest ever": Count Binface who fought against Rishi Sunak

Must read

Self-styled “intergalactic warrior” Count Binface, who contested the Richmond and Northallerton parliamentary seat against Rishi Sunak in the UK general election, finished 6th, his best performance in his budding political career.

Declaring the moment “#IndependenceDay”, Count Binface wrote, “My highest ever position. 6th place. My highest ever parliamentary vote. 308. My highest height. 2ft 6in #IndependenceDay is here.”

Count Binface, better known as comedian John Harvey, railed against Mr Sunak wearing his signature headgear resembling a dustbin. His promises included building at least “one affordable home”, instituting national service for all former prime ministers and even nationalising the singer Adele.

Mr. Harvey’s other persona has a history of taking on prominent political figures. Count Binface’s foray into U.K. elections began in 2017, when he contested against Prime Minister Theresa May under the guise of Lord Buckethead. In 2019, Binface contested against then-Prime Minister Boris Johnson in the general election, and most recently, he ran in the London mayoral race, where he defeated the far-right Britain First party by 4,000 votes.

“In Britain anyone, literally anyone, is free to stand for election, no matter how silly their appearance,” Binface told news agency AFP.

Binface’s policies attracted attention in the recent election. His proposals included limiting the price of a croissant to £1.10, compulsory national service for former prime ministers and a bid to represent the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest.

Keir Starmer will become Britain’s new prime minister today after his left-wing opposition Labour Party won a landslide general election victory, ending 14 years of right-wing Conservative rule.
