Freaky Friday, the much-awaited sequel to the 2003 Disney film Freaky Friday, is now just one step away from hitting the big screen. Reprising their lead roles, Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis have wrapped up shooting for the upcoming sequel.

The two played Anna and Tess two decades ago. In the final days of filming, Lohan couldn’t help but get emotional as the movie’s release date inched closer to 2025. She marked her final Monday on the Freakier Friday set with a touching Instagram post on Aug. 19.

“Happy Monday! It’s our last Monday on the set of #FreakerFriday and my heart is so full. We had such a wonderful time making this movie. The amazing cast, crew and everyone at Disney Studios put so much time and love into making this movie! Thank you everyone!” he wrote alongside a selfie.

Lohan thanked the entire cast, crew and her team at Disney Studios, saying she was so proud to be a part of the film, which she described as “a story about family, mothers and their children, and a film filled with love, laughter and a lot of heart.” Giving special mention to her on-screen mother Curtis, she said, “It was such a joy to work with my dear friend Jamie Lee Curtis, who brought so much joy to our set every day and made it so special!”

Lohan’s post comes just days after Curtis shared her last day of shooting Freakier Friday last Friday (August 16). “Last Friday of this freakiest of Fridays or as I call it CRIDAY,” she wrote. She mentioned that although there are still a few days left until next week, “it’s coming to an end and this morning I arrived at work and saw hundreds of people gathering for the fans, filming in California.”

She also expressed her gratitude to her “amazing” on-screen daughter Lohan, writing, “Lindsay Lohan, without whom we couldn’t have made this movie. Never. I appreciate her gifting me a @suziekondi shirt and I wore it today in her honor.” Finally, Curtis ended her lengthy heartfelt note with: “Going to work wearing a wig. Thank you for all the love! It was amazing!”

At Disney’s D23 Expo earlier this month, the sequel officially revealed its title and that it would be released in theaters. In the upcoming sequel, Anna now has a daughter and will soon gain a stepdaughter as well. The mother-daughter team discovers they may need to move bodies once again to overcome the obstacles. Freakier Friday is scheduled to be released in theaters in 2025.

In addition to Lohan and Curtis, the cast includes Mark Harmon as Ryan, Chad Michael Murray as Jake, Christina Vidal Mitchell as Maddie, Haley Hudson as Peg, Lucille Soong as Pei-Pei’s mom, Stephen Tobolowsky as Mr. Elton Bates and Rosalind Chao as Pei-Pei. Other new cast members include Manny Jacinto as Anna’s husband and Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan in currently undisclosed roles.
