‘Munjya’ beats ‘Bhediya’ at the box office in 2 weeks, but can it weather the ‘Kalki’ storm?
‘Munjya’ is now the second biggest film in Maddock’s supernatural world. It is only behind ‘Stree’ which earned Rs 130 crore at the box office.

‘Munjya’ has entered its third weekend at the box office. This is the fourth film in Maddock’s horror-comedy universe and is now behind only ‘Stree’ in terms of numbers. Starring Sharvari Wagh, Mona Singh and Abhay Verma, the film has surpassed the lifetime collections of Bhediya at the ticket window. ‘Munjya’ collected around Rs 68 crore by the end of its second week and after Friday’s business, it surpassed Bhediya’s lifetime collection of Rs 68.99 crore.
The Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon starrer, which is releasing in November 2022, has collected Rs 56.71 crore in two weeks, which is much less than the collection made by ‘Munjya’ in the same time. ‘Stree’ starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor remains on top with a lifetime collection of Rs 130 crore.

‘Munjya’ has maintained a steady pace at the box office despite stiff competition from Kartik Aaryan’s ‘Chandu Champion’. After collecting Rs 35.3 crore in the first week, it did not show any major drop and collected Rs 32.65 crore in the second week. However, the real test of the film will begin when Prabhas’s magnum opus ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ releases on June 27.
‘Munjya’ has received a good response from both the audience and critics. It will be interesting to see if all the positive words help it cross the Rs 100 crore benchmark in its lifetime run. This shouldn’t be a difficult task to achieve as the business is expected to add another Rs 20-22 crore in the third week, taking the total past Rs 100 crore.
