‘Munjya’ actor Abhay Verma reveals why he rejected ‘Archies’, ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’

Abhay Verma is the new star of the moment. The ‘Munjya’ actor directly entered the Rs 100 crore club with the horror-comedy. Did you know that Verma, who played important roles in ‘Family Man 2’ and ‘Safed’, turned down ‘The Archies’, ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’? In a recent interview, the actor revealed the reason for this.
Talking to IANS, Abhay Verma said, “‘The Archies’ and ‘Safed’ were both being made at the same time. I chose ‘Safed’ over ‘The Archies’. I was in the process of ‘The Archies’, but I really wanted to do ‘Safed’. I had auditioned for ‘The Archies’ and met Zoya (Akhtar, director). But, ‘Safed’ what had happened then (I got the white one so) I decided to choose the latter.
He also said in the same interview that he was also in talks for ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’. Abhay said, “I wish I could have done that film, but at that time I had got some other project. But, when I could not do Gangubai Kathiawadi, a few days later I met Alia (Bhatt) for a brand shoot. Just a few days ago, I met Sanjay Leela Bhansali sir for Gangubai Kathiawadi.”
Abhay played the lead role in ‘Munjya’. He received a lot of praise for his performance and the film is still running in theatres across the country.
