Mumtaz remembers Hema Malini’s devotion towards Dharmendra: She was really in love

Veteran actress Mumtaz remembered late actor Dharmendra, who passed away last month. In a recent interview, she talked about actor Hema Malini’s dedication towards Dharmendra and how it is difficult for her to deal with the loss of her husband. Mumtaz spoke in detail about her recent visit to the hospital to see the legendary actor and discussed the impact of his demise on those close to her.
The 78-year-old expressed his sympathy towards Malini while highlighting the strength of her relationship with Dharmendra in an interview with Vicky Lalwani. He said, “I feel sorry for his family and Hema ji. She was always devoted to him. She must be feeling this loss very deeply. She really loved him.”
Recalling her relationship with the family, Mumtaz described a respectful and warm meeting with Dharmendra’s first wife Prakash Kaur. He told, “Yes, I met his wife. She was sitting with us. She met me very nicely and behaved well with me – asked about food and drinks properly. My sister and Dharmendra ji were also sitting there.”
The actor further revealed that he had visited Dharmendra in the hospital shortly before his death. She described how she was informed of his condition upon arrival but was determined to see him. “I went to the hospital. When I got there, I was told the doctors said he was on a ventilator – ‘What would you see him do?’ I just said that I would just like to see his glimpse. So, I went in, saw him, he was looking good even lying down at that time,” she recalled.
Although She met Dharmendra in his last moments, Mumtaz took a personal decision not to attend his funeral. She said, “I did not go for the last rites. I could not see his body. When Dev Saheb passed away, his hotel was near my house and many people rang the bell to call me to meet him, but I refused. He was a very lively and vivacious person, he taught me everything.”
