Mukesh Chhabra ‘can’t forget Akshay Kumar’s help during his mother’s illness’
Casting director Mukesh Chhabra revealed Akshay Kumar’s kindness and said that he arranged for heart treatment for his mother. Despite limited introduction, Akshay helped in difficult times.
Casting director Mukesh Chhabra has revealed that Akshay Kumar helped him arrange for his mother’s heart treatment even though they were not close friends. Chhabra said that he had to contact a particular doctor in the hospital and Akshay helped him.
In an interview with Ranveer Allahabadia, Chhabra revealed that his mother Kamal Chhabra suffered from heart disease two years ago. Filmmaker Anand L Rai had told him that the doctor she needed was close to Akshay Kumar.
He said, “So, I sent a message to Akshay Kumar and he called immediately. He arranged everything in that hospital, he called me almost every day, for 15 days in a row. He would ask, ‘How is your mother? How are you?’ He also spoke to the doctor constantly. They don’t talk about it; I also never spoke about it.”
“Despite being so busy, he would ask every morning, ‘How is Mummy Da?The casting director said, “How is mummy? I can’t forget it at all. He even met my mother. It’s not like we are in regular touch because when you know someone on a personal level you take that step to help them but he did it anyway. We started talking after that but I can’t forget that moment.”
Chhabra said that they were not in regular touch, but Akshay still stepped in to help. Mukesh Chhabra’s mother passed away in 2023.
On the work front, Chhabra has done casting for some of the biggest upcoming films, including Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Ramayan’, which is currently being filmed in two parts. Akshay Kumar recently had his third release of the year, ‘Khel Khel Mein’, and he also played a cameo role in ‘Stree 2’, directed by Amar Kaushik.
