The Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) thanked Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin. He also thanked Deputy Chief Minister Udayanidhi Stalin and Tamil Development and Information Minister Thiru MP Saminathan.
Earlier, actor -producer Kamal Haasan appealed to the Tamil Nadu government to cut tax, while in recent times the Tamil film industry emphasized the financial conflicts faced by the industry, especially after the Kovid -19 epidemic.
The revised order, which was issued under the Entertainment Tax Act, 2017 of Tamil Nadu local authorities, would be reflected in ticket pricing. Earlier, the cost of the local body tax was 8.6 percent.
The move is expected to increase footfall in theaters and reduce the pressure that producers and exhibitors are facing. The film industry is financially struggling due to rising production costs.
Many producers and distributors welcomed the decision and expressed their relief. The move will help Kamal Haasan’s upcoming film, ‘Thug Life’, directed by Mani Ratnam and upcoming films in the state.
