Motorola Edge 50 Quick Review: Looks like a complete package
Motorola’s Edge 50 impresses with its sleek design, powerful specs, and durable build, making it a standout in the mid-range segment.

Motorola has been on the move with launching some exciting phones lately, and their latest addition to the Edge series, the Edge 50, is no exception. This phone packs a punch with its sleek design and powerful specs. Motorola claims that it’s the thinnest phone on the market right now, and after holding it, I’m convinced! Plus, it’s got an IP68 water resistance rating, so even if it drops in a lake, it’ll come out without any damage. Combine that with a military-grade body, and you’ve got a phone that’s perfect for those of us who aren’t exactly careful with our gadgets. I’ve been using the Motorola Edge 50 for just over a day now, and here are my first impressions.
Attractive design and great color options
The Motorola Edge 50 is impressively thin, measuring just 7.79mm thick, and is also lightweight, weighing just 180 grams. Despite its sleek profile, it feels sturdy thanks to the metal frame and IP68 water protection. The device also features MIL 810H grade protection, which ensures that it can handle a few bumps and falls without any worries. The phone comes in three attractive colours – Jungle Green, Peach Fuzz, and Koala Grey. I got the Jungle Green variant, and the vegan leather finish feels premium and unique. I liked the overall finish of the device. Even though it is completely mid-range, it feels extremely premium to hold.

The 6.7-inch pOLED Endless Edge display is a treat for the eyes. It’s sharp, vibrant and everything looks buttery smooth thanks to the 120Hz refresh rate. Whether I’m scrolling through social media or watching videos, the display’s HDR10+ support and 1600 nits peak brightness ensure great clarity even in bright sunlight. The Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection gives me peace of mind against scratches and minor impacts.
Good performance so far and decent battery
Under the hood, the Motorola Edge 50 is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 Accelerated Edition, paired with 8GB of RAM. This combo handles multitasking with ease. Apps open quickly, and switching between them is seamless. The 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage provides ample space for all my apps, photos, and videos.
Running on Android 14, the Motorola Edge 50 offers a clean and intuitive user experience, as we have seen in all the devices launched before. Motorola has kept the bloatware to a minimum, which I appreciate.
The 5000mAh battery is another highlight. It easily lasts a full day on a single charge, even with heavy usage. And when it needs a boost, the 68W TurboPower charging gets it back up to speed in no time. The addition of 15W wireless charging is a nice feature.
Camera System
The camera setup on the Motorola Edge 50 is quite versatile. With the main 50-megapixel sensor and optical image stabilisation the outdoor photos I have clicked so far have come out sharp and vibrant.

The 13-megapixel ultrawide lens offers a 120-degree field of view, which is perfect for landscape shots or fitting more into the frame. The 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom comes in handy for close-ups, and also has optical image stabilization to reduce blur. The front 32-megapixel camera is great for selfies, with features like auto smile capture and gesture capture that can make capturing the perfect shot easy.
I am yet to test the phone’s camera in different lighting conditions. Only then will I be able to comment better on the overall camera performance of the device. Until then
Should you buy it?
Overall, my first impression about the Motorola Edge 50 is positive. It is a great device that excels in design, performance and camera capabilities. The vibrant display, strong battery life and great extras like wireless charging and MIL 810H grade protection make it an attractive option in its segment. If you are looking for a new smartphone that brings together style and substance, the Motorola Edge 50 is definitely worth considering.
