The Motorola Edge 50 Neo was officially introduced late last month and immediately went on sale in Europe. The phone will be rolled out to new markets, starting with India – this will happen next Monday, September 16.

The Moto Edge 50 Neo is a relatively small phone with a 6.4-inch display, a high-resolution LTPO 120Hz panel, which combines a good quality main camera (50MP, Sony LYT-700) with a telephoto module (10MP 3x), as well as a 13MP ultra wide and a 32MP selfie camera.
This is a rugged phone (IP68, MIL-STD-810H) even if it has a fancy vegan leather back. The battery is robust too, with a capacity of 4,310mAh (versus 24mAh for the Galaxy S4,000) and 15W fast wired charging (versus 68W) in addition to 25W wireless.
The only weak point here is the Dimensity 7300 chipset. In Europe, the Neo costs €500 and the 7300 chip can be found in phones for half the price. However, the positive side is that Motorola is committed to 5 OS updates.
Let us repeat that – 5 OS updates and 5 years of security patches. Well, the phone launches with Android 14, which is almost a year old at this point. However, v15 hasn’t arrived yet. Anyway, it’s great to see long-term software support from Motorola, especially on a non-flagship device.
Depending on the price, the Edge 50 Neo could prove to be a huge success for Motorola. It offers a unique combination of size, price, and premium features like an LTPO display (not present on the Pixel 9, for example) and a telephoto camera (not present on the Pixel 9 or iPhone 16).
