Mohanlal’s latest Malayalam film, ‘Thudram’, is proving to be a major box office success. However, amidst the increasing popularity of the film, a theft incident has created concern for producers. A viral video surfaced on social media, in which the film was being illegally played in a tourist bus which was going from Malappuram to Vagamon.

As Manorama NewsA female passenger flagged off the issue by informing actor Binu Pappu and providing video evidence of screening. The footage quickly attracted attention, causing the film’s producer M Renjith.

Manufacturer M Rainjith filed a formal complaint with the cyber cell headquarters. In response, Kerala Culture Minister Saji Cherian said that strict action will be taken if appropriate evidence and complaint is presented.

A bus owned by Domino Travels allegedly had an Android TV system connected to the mobile phones of the passengers. The owner claimed that the driver and staff were unaware of the source of the material, but have agreed to fully cooperate in the investigation by sharing the details of the passengers.

Meanwhile, the Crime Thriller directed by Tharoon Murthy grossed over Rs 150 crore worldwide within just 10 days, with a strong box office streak of the actor. The film has also found a favor with both the audience and critics, putting itself in a position as one of the top -grossing Malayalam films of the year.

The film is also a rare milestone for Mohanlal. With the Rs 150 crore club with ‘Thaudram’ and ‘L2: Empuraan’ a month ago, he has become the first South Indian actor to release films worth Rs 100 crore consecutive rupees within a month.

With stable collections and increasing popularity, ‘Thudram’ is now expected to become the fourth highest grossing Malayalam film globally after ‘L2: Empuraan’, ‘Manjummel Boys’, and ‘2018’.
