Mohanlal’s upcoming political action film Ampuran is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated films of 2025. The film recently made headlines, but for the wrong reasons, after a statement by Suresh Kumar, Vice President of the Kerala Film Producers Association (KFPA), the film has revealed that the film has done the film. Without including the fees of the actors, he crossed the budget of 140 crores.
Suresh Kumar’s statement came between a press meat, where he mentioned that the Malayalam film industry would face the total shutdown from June 1, as a protest against the high remuneration sought by the actors. In addition, the experienced manufacturer also demanded that GST be withdrawn with entertainment tax as well as the industry.
In the latest twist of events, Antony Perumbavur, who is the creator of Mohanlal starrer, took on social media to respond to Suresh Kumar’s announcements. Permbavur mentioned that he decided to publicly share the post as a direct response to his colleague’s statements, which were also done publicly.
Permbavur questioned Suresh Kumar’s right to declare a shutdown in his post and mentioned that the KFPA had not come on a consensus about the announcement. The Lucifer maker further mentioned that such a shutdown would affect the livelihood of hundreds of people working in the film industry and in detail of thousands of families.
Apart from this, in his strongly words posts, Antony Perumbavur also mentioned that he could not understand why Suresh Kumar will talk about the budget of his upcoming film Emapuran, especially given that the film right now Also in its post-production phase. The producer also questioned the intentions of his colleague, saying that he was uncertain whether Suresh Kumar met the press to improve or embarrass the industry.
Antony Permbavur also mentioned that if KFPA had a consensus, it would be President Anto Joseph who would make the announcement publicly.

Many celebrities including Prithviraj Sukumaran, Aju Varghese, Tovino Thomas, and faster came out in favor of Antony Perumbavur’s statements. On the other hand, KFPA Secretary B.K. Rakesh, as well as the producer Siyad Koker came out in support of Suresh Kumar, stating that the experienced manufacturer gave voice to the association’s decision. Kokar also reprimanded Perumbavur for not giving voice of his concerns during the KFPA meeting.
