In his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ session on Sunday, PM Narendra Modi presented the data and informed his fellow Indians about how one of every eight people is struggling with obesity in the country. He then nominated 10 prominent people of the fields to contribute to the mission.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday nominated actors Mohanlal, R Madhavan, Niruan and singer Shreya Ghoshal from the film industry to support him in his fight against obesity. He shared a small note on the X and tagged all the major personalities, requesting him to join his new mission.

Apart from actors and singers, Modi also nominated political figures, sports champions and traders. The list included Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Anand Mahindra, weightlifter Mirabai, Infosys co-founder Nandan Nileconi, Philanthropist and MP Sudha Muri, and shooting legend Manu Bhakar.

The PM’s post on X read, “As mentioned in tomorrow’s #Mannkibaat, I would like to enroll the following people to help strengthen the fight against obesity and reduce the consumption of edible oil in food Awareness spreads about doing 10 people to enroll them (SIC).

During his weekend broadcast on Sunday, ‘Maan Ki Baat’, Modi asked his fellow Indians to make a conscious option to use less oil during cooking. He urged people that in an effort to create a health chain across the country, at least 10 percent advice at least 10 percent advice to 10 people.

In his address, he shared the data and mentioned that each of the eight people in India suffers from obesity. “To become a fit and healthy nation, we have to deal with the problem of obesity. According to a study, one of every eight people is suffering from obesity problem,” he said.

He said, “Obesity cases have doubled in the last few years, but even more worrying is that the problem of obesity in children has increased four times. Therefore, you should decide that you use every oil Month.

Meanwhile, Mohanlal announced another much awaited installment from his ‘Dravim’ franchise on Friday. The third film will begin this year and will be ready for release in 2026.
