Mohanlal on Malaikottai Vaaliban’s performance: Need to be more careful with the script
Actor Mohanlal received a mixed response for Malaikottai Valiban during the promotion of his upcoming directorial, Barrows: Guardian of Treasure. The veteran actor also opened up about the challenges of working with new directors.
Actor Mohanlal recently addressed a mixed reception for his last film Malaikottai Vaaliban, his first collaboration with acclaimed director Lijo Jose Pellissery. Speaking during the promotion of Barrows: Guardian of Treasure, the veteran actor admitted that despite the film being good, it did not resonate with audiences as expected.
Talking about the reception of the film, the actor said, “I did a film with huge expectations, Malaikottai Vaaliban. It was a good film, but could not do anything special. My viewers and friends were more sad than me.

Mohanlal also talked about the huge responsibility actors have to shoulder when films perform poorly. “If the film doesn’t do, the entire blame will fall on the actor. It’s a challenge and I have to be very careful in choosing the script.
He spoke about the challenges of working with new directors and emphasized that many come up with stories heavily influenced by their established personalities. “When new directors come and narrate stories, I often see Mohanlal in them. They have to erase it and come up with something new,” he commented.

Produced by Antony Perumbavoor under Ashirwad Cinemas, the cinematography is by Santhosh Sivan, and the music is composed by Lydian Nadhaswaram. This film is going to be released on screens on 25th December.
Mohanlal will also be seen in Prithviraj Sukumaran’s L2E or L2: Empuraan. The shooting of the film has been completed successfully. The film stars famous actors Mohanlal and Tovino Thomas in lead roles.
