Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty has been served a reason by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) allegedly serve a reason for erecting a reason for erecting unauthorized ground-floor structures on a conspiracy within the melodious region of Malad.
Meanwhile, on May 17, 2025, actor Mithun Chakraborty allegedly denied the allegations, claiming that there were no unauthorized structures on the property. He is said to have mentioned that notices were issued to many persons and a formal response was being prepared to present to BMC.
On May 10, the notice directed the actor to provide a valid clarification for the amendments made in the property. If no satisfactory response is obtained, the structure will be demolished at its own expense, taking care with the civil body that the legal proceedings can be followed.
Last week, BMC started a clearance operation in the Madhur region after highlighting about 130 unauthorized constructions, including bungalows allegedly using Falded Building Plan. Officials said nine such structures, including some in the Argal Village, were already taken on May 9. He said that all 130 illegal constructions developed in the last one year are scheduled to remove by 31 May.
Civil authorities indicated that the structures on the plot were built without obtaining necessary approval from the relevant authority, BMC was motivated to issue a reason for Mithun Chakraborty on 10 May. The boundary of construction on the site was highlighted, the BMC stated that the work was done.
The civic body has directed the actor to provide a valid clarification within seven days of receiving the notice, stating that “the building or work should not be removed, should be replaced, or should not be demolished, or the complex is restored for its original use.”
The notice further mentions that if the explanation is considered unsatisfactory, the structure will be demolished at the owner’s expenses and risk. Additionally, BMC has warned that actors can face legal action. Under Section 475A of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, such violations can attract fine and imprisonment.
According to BMC, as per the provisions mentioned under Section 351 (1A) of the same Act, the show cause notice has been issued.
