Singer Miley Cyrus is the youngest winner of the Disney Legend Award. Miley played the lead character of Hannah Montana in the Disney show.

Miley became a household name after appearing on the Disney Channel show, which first premiered in 2006, when Miley was only 13 years old.

An emotional Miley said, “In my heart, I was Hannah Montana. And I was so proud of that. I’m going to let everyone in on the Disney Legend secret. I’m the one who tells you what you shouldn’t know. And what I want to say is, even legends get scared. I’m scared right now. But, the difference is, we do it anyway. And you all can do this every day. To be scared and still do it is legendary. There’s no such thing as failure when you try.”

“The way to win is to try. I was born and raised in Nashville, which is where I sent my audition tapes from. After those tapes were made, my mom got a message saying the tapes were great, but I was too young. A year goes by, and I forget everything. Then we get a call that they got the cast, they shot the show all the way through, but the pilot isn’t working. So they wanted me to come in person to audition. Since Hannah is a pop star, we wanted footage of her sold-out concert, but they didn’t know who Hannah aka Miley was, so they gave away tickets to a mall where I would be doing my first free concert. And the first song I opened with was titled, ‘This Is the Life.’ I’m still proud of Hannah Montana because she made Miley who she is in so many ways. This award is dedicated to her and her loyal fans,” Miley signed off.

Apart from Miley Cyrus, the Disney Legend Award was given to 13 others, including veteran actors Harrison Ford, Jamie Lee Curtis and composer John Williams.
