Miley Cyrus fans can officially expect new music from her, as well as some visual art to go along with it. Cyrus spoke to Harper’s Bazaar as their December 24/January 25 Art Issue personality and revealed in the cover story that she is working on a “visual album” for release next year. She told the magazine that the atmosphere of her project is “hypnotic and glamorous”. The Flowers singer said that it is a concept album that aims to spread some sick culture through music.

The project takes inspiration from Pink Floyd – The Wall, a 1982 psychedelic film that blends live-action and animation, based on the classic album of the same name. Cyrus told Bazaar that her idea was to create The Wall, but with a better wardrobe and more glamour, so that it could also flawlessly represent the pop culture element.

Helping Cyrus on the project is Panos Cosmatos, who directed 2018’s Mandy starring Nicolas Cage, which she calls one of her favorite films of all time. Cosmatos also contributed to the Cyrus issue of Bazaar, and during his conversation with the magazine, he described his latest musical endeavor as more experimental than anything the Grammy winner has done.

Cyrus said in her conversation with the outlet that the visual aspects of her upcoming album are driving the sound — the songs, whether they’re about destruction, heartbreak or death. He promised his fans that however, the mind-bending scenes would be presented beautifully, as he believes there is a point of beauty even in the worst times in a person’s life.

Cyrus is working with her boyfriend Max Moando on the album. He has composed several songs for the project and contributed as a co-writer to Something Beautiful, the track, as of now, set to become the title track of the album of the same name. Cyrus explained that her boyfriend’s involvement matches her history of working with the people she loves.

Elsewhere in the interview, Cyrus shared her thoughts on ongoing challenges in pop culture. The Disney alum revealed she recently reached out to Chappelle Rhone after the singer candidly discussed her abuse from fans. Cyrus hopes people will be nice to the 26-year-old and not give her a hard time.
