Singer Mika Singh admits he is a bit notorious and ‘bad-mannered’. In a recent interview with India Today’s sister channel LallantopHe shared how he once falsely credited veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar as the writer of his song “Sawan Mein Lag Gayi Aag” to ensure that people took it seriously. He believed that if he told them that it was his lyrics and composition, they would reject the song.

“When I made the song, I would ask everyone if they liked it. They would ask me who wrote it, and I knew that if I said I wrote it, they wouldn’t take the song seriously. So, I will tell people that Javed Akhtar helped write it and AR Rahman helped with the music,” Mika shared.

Did he ever tell Akhtar about this? Mika replied, “I like Javed Sahab very much. I met him many times in some shows. I’ve always been a bit of a curmudgeon. He won’t pay any attention to me. This was just after ‘Ganpat’ came out. We were at an awards ceremony and I had to make a grand entrance. I thought that Javed Saheb would definitely notice me, but he did not.

The singer further added, “I jumped on the table and pulled her ear. Her head turned back, and I touched her feet and told her I was a big fan of hers. She said, ‘Go’ (go). I Really want him to do that.” Notice me and compliment my work, but at first he always ignored me, but now when he sees me he waves from a distance.”

Mika also recalled a mistake he made during an awards show, which he was hosting with Maniesh Paul. Instead of saying that he was keen to work with AR Rahman, he said, “This year you (Rahman) will get a chance to work with me.” Rehman was stunned to hear this.
