The Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) recently elected actor Shaveta Menon as the General Secretary as her first female president and actor Koyal Parmeswaran. But the landmark moment was rapidly cloudy due to controversy after a shocking sexist comment during the announcement by veteran actor Kollam Thulasi.
Amma veteran Kollam Thulasi expressed renewed displeasure with her latest comments on women for pseudo science rats and fire -set comments during the Sabarimala line, suggested her “status” in society.

Actors Saryu, Vinu Mohan, Tiny Tom, Neena Kurup, Santosh Kejhatur, Dr. Rani David Raj, Sioy Varghese, Joy Matthew, Anjali Nair and Asha Arvind are included.
After steering amid allegations of sexual misconduct, she has been tasked to restore credibility to Amma.
While many members including actor Asif Ali saw the new leadership as an opportunity for inclusion and reconciliation, Kollam Thulasi’s words have put a shadow on Amma’s latest start.
