Meghan Thee Stallion ruled the Japanese army after her culture-blending collaboration with rapper Yuki Chiba took the internet by storm. Now, she has released the official music video, which is a tribute to Japanese cinema and culture in every sense!

The song was released as part of his latest self-titled offering, which also marks his first effort as an independent artist. The track surpassed expectations and became the breakout track of the 18-track set.

Mamushi created an internet phenomenon with every user trying out the trend, which is now the official hookstep in the music video. In the video, Meghan plays a mamushi – a venomous Japanese viper – and the setting appears to be similar to an old classic Japanese film.

Meghan, as Viper, teams up with Yuki to devise a strategy to lure the gangsters to a sultry spa and kill them.

The That Sh*t rapper creates an army of blue-faced goons using the spirits of dead gangsters, inspired by director Akira Kurosawa’s 1990 film Dreams. Not only does the setting stay true to Japanese heritage, but the music video was also filmed in Tokyo, Japan, and stars Tokyo Vice actor Sho Kasamatsu.

Directed by Kevin “Onda” Leyva and produced by Tokyo-based creative company Push Japan, the Mamushi music video was filmed at Tsurumaki Onsen Jinya. The latter half of the video also features the country’s iconic Engaku-ji temple.

The rapper was last seen in Atlanta, where she performed at Kamala Harris’ first campaign rally. She was recently nominated for five MTV Video Music Awards, making history by becoming the first hip-hop artist to receive five nominations.
