The second trailer for legendary director Francis Ford Coppola’s much-awaited film Megalopolis is here. The promo appears to be self-referential as well as surreal. It begins by taking on critics of Coppola’s previous classic films such as The Godfather and Apocalypse Now.
This suggests that Megalopolis will also be taken harshly by critics, but as the years go by and people begin to peel away its layers, it will be respected.

Megalopolis centers around the fall of an American empire, which references the fall of the Roman Empire.
As soon as the trailer was released, fans flocked to the comments section to show love to the director. One user wrote, “The reminder above is brilliant marketing. The movie may be a real mess, but this man has earned my immense respect over the years following his vision – I’ll be there for him on day one in IMAX. Studio system be damned.”
Another commented, “Their marketing strategy now is basically, ‘At first you’ll think this is a bad movie, but it’s a Francis Ford Coppola movie, so give it 10 years and it will become the best movie ever made.'”
Starring Giancarlo Esposito, Nathalie Emmanuel, Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf, Jon Voight and Jason Schwartzman, Megalopolis will release in theaters on September 27.
