Mithun Chakraborty is a veteran star who has been entertaining the audience for decades. Following his father’s footsteps, Namashi Chakraborty also decided to become an actor and join showbiz. Last year, the young artiste made her acting debut with Rajkumar Santoshi’s Bad Boy alongside another newcomer Amreen Qureshi.
Reports suggest that Namashi Chakraborty is also interested in comedy and is often seen performing standup at popular venues in the city. After completing her schooling in Tamil Nadu, she took dance training from Shiamak Davar’s institute and also joined an acting school to learn the skills. Before changing lanes, he also worked as a film review writer. He may have been born to Dadasaheb Phalke awardee and Yogita Bali, but the 32-year-old did not enjoy the privilege that many insiders enjoy. The aspiring actor had to work hard to get his first film Bad Boy with filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi.
Speaking to Times of India, Mithun Da’s younger son said that his parents did not even know when he had signed his first film. Actually, even the filmmaker did not know that Namashi was the son of a ‘disco dancer’. However, Raj continued to say that he looked like a senior actor. He also revealed that he was passionate about becoming an actor and had no ‘Plan B’. Although he was deeply influenced by his father and actor Shahrukh Khan, it was Govinda who inspired him to enter films. Namashi Chakraborty has three siblings, Mahaakshay, Ushmi and Dishani Chakraborty, who are all in the entertainment industry. “I have some traits of Shah Rukh, Govinda and my father,” he told the publication.
While he is just starting out in the industry, the actor also said that he was once replaced after shooting for a film for about ten days. “I’ve come the hard way. I auditioned for a film for the third lead and got rejected,” he reportedly told TOI. While she is looking forward to working with Sara Ali Khan and Trupti Dimri, Namashi feels Saif Ali Khan’s daughter is the sexiest of them all. Let us tell you, the upcoming star also acted and directed the short film Hero in 2013 and also worked as an assistant director in the film led by his brother Mahaakshay. He also starred in the 2023 film India Fashion Factory alongside Nikki Tamboli.
During an exclusive conversation with Pinkvilla, Mithun Chakraborty talked about his son Namashi and the difficulties he faced in his acting career. “I would like to say that Namashi went through a lot of pain,” he told us. I say pain in the sense that I knew everything. That he is going to audition and how people have treated him. They didn’t even let him stand. I know everything. When he comes out, they will know that he is Mithun da (my) son and people inside will be like ‘Oh my God’. what did we do’. I feel guilty. Then I think that there are many like me; When I came into the industry.”
The Kashmir Files star further said, “There are a lot of people in Mumbai who are struggling. Thinking this again I felt that I must go through this. He has been through it. The film he has received is completely his. Neither I, nor anyone, ever called anyone. I am the same for everyone. One has to win in life. You have to fight. You have to fight on your own. He is lucky that the producers are very good.
After trying his luck in acting, Namashi is reportedly going to step into film production. News18 quoted the boy’s now-deleted social media post in which this was mentioned. According to the publication, he wrote in the post, “Today on my birthday, I announce my first venture as a director, which will be made under my home production MYRND MOVIES. I will also play the lead role in the film.
