Meet the actor who started off as a TV show host, worked with Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and now does the same while staying away from the limelight

Some actors who play supporting or supporting roles often find happiness in their career and decide to quit acting even after working with some of the biggest names in the industry like Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan.

Today, we take a look at Bollywood actor Vishal Malhotra, who has been hosting the show for the last 25 years. He has appeared in films, television series and web shows as well as anchoring cricket programmes.

However, she feels that she has been primarily typecast as an anchor. Currently, he has stepped away from the limelight to focus on his entrepreneurial journey and other projects.

Malhotra made her significant debut with Shahid Kapoor in Ishq Vishk. After this he appeared in many films including Salaam-e-Ishq with Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra. She particularly gained fame for her role in Emraan Hashmi’s film Jannat. Additionally, she was also featured in Kaal and Shahrukh Khan’s Happy New Year, among other projects.

Vishal was last seen in the 2017 film Tu Hai Mera Sunday, after which the actor’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to set up his own production company, dedicated to creating innovative and thought-provoking content.

They recently produced the world’s first NFT-funded film, ILM, which received critical praise from both audiences and industry professionals.

In an earlier conversation with Hindustan Times, the actor had mentioned that his goal as an actor is to work in all formats, be it films, serials, OTT platforms or live shows.

He stressed the importance of balancing these opportunities and selecting the best opportunities available. He acknowledged that typecasting is a common issue, but believes that ultimately it is up to the actors to give their best in each role.

He elaborated that sometimes, performing well in one’s job can lead to betrayal. After Ishq Vishk, he received more than 30 offers for roles like Mambo, which was his character in the film.

He said that while iconic roles bring recognition and awards, they also often lead to typecasting, which can limit an actor to a specific category.

The Salaam-e-Ishq actor said that it can be challenging to reject projects that offer substantial financial rewards, even if they contribute to typecasting, as everyone has to support their family. He also mentioned his role as host in the film Happy New Year.

Reflecting on his hosting journey, he shared that he started with the show Disney Hour on DD Metro 25 years ago and will soon host Imagine That Season 2.

He expressed that many of the children who grew up watching his shows are now parents themselves, and he often receives messages from them saying that they made their childhood special, which he finds humbling.

This connection makes him feel relevant to the new generation even after spending 25 years in the industry.
