In today’s version of Meat the Actor, we throw a light on an artist that did not rise overnight, but when he did, Spotlight followed him. His story is one of the sheer determination, from the cinemas being drawn from theaters in just three days to become a favorite of critics and streaming the audience equally. He once waited outside the studio, handing over the DVD of his performance, and is now leading some of India’s biggest OTT shows. He has worked with names like Amitabh Bachchan, Kai’s Menon and Pratik Gandhi. This is none other than Avinash Tiwari.
Avinash made his debut in 2009 with the film Sano Na .. A Nanhi Awaaz, but his real success came in 2018 when he acted in Laila Majnu presented by Imtiaz Ali. Unfortunately, despite his heart -breaking performance, the film was removed from theaters within three days. In many interviews, Avinash has revealed how destructive it was for him, especially after spending more than a decade in preparation for this moment. The film was later found a creed on the OTT and even re -released in theaters in 2024, receiving a large -scale love, which was always worthy.
Born in Gopalganj, Bihar, Avinash moved to Mumbai with his family after being three years old. He initially chased engineering, but was out in the fourth semester to follow his passion for acting. He studied under Barry John and later refined his craft at the New York Film Academy. But despite this professional training, he found it difficult to break into Bollywood, spending years in Limbo, waiting for that role.
After Laila Majnu, he appeared in Netflix’s Bulbul (2020), where he played the role of Satya, and was appreciated for adding depth to the story. In 2022, he shocked the audience with his depiction of gangster Chandan Maho in Bihar chapter, and inspired by the rise of Dawood Ibrahim, with a chilling lead role in Bombay Meri Jaan (2023) as Dara Qadri. His performance in the 2024 film Madgaon Express was equally appreciated.
Interestingly, in an interview recently, Avinash talked about how many people in the industry thought that he was “finished” after Laila Majnu. But instead of leaving, he doubled his efforts. “If I can lose something overnight, I can come back in time,” he said.
From rejection and short -term box office to the headlining of the acclaimed series, Avinash Tiwari’s visit is proof that the real talent always finds its way.
