IMAX tickets for Christopher Nolan’s much awaited film The Odissi will go on sale on July 17, 2025, a year ago to open theaters in theaters. Universal Pictures confirmed that the initial ticket would be available only for the IMAX 70 mm screening, which is Nool’s favorite format for his films.
As per the variety of advance ticket sales variety, IMAX will cover selected Shotmes in theaters equipped with 70 mm screen. For other formats, the ticket is expected to go on a very close sale after the official release date of the film, which is 17 July, 2026.
A rare step by universal and imax
It is uncommon for a studio to release tickets far beyond the release of a film. However, this step reflects Nolan’s high expectations for the next epic. His previous film, Openheameer, won around 975 million USD at the global box office and won the Oscar for the best photo.
The Universe is again supporting Nolan after Openhaimer’s huge success. “A Journey Beins” is the tagline for Odyssey, which is based on Homer’s ancient Greek poem. The film stars Matt Demon as the king of Ethaka as Odisius, who struggles to return home after the Trojan War.
A star-staded cast and IMAX format
The artists include Tom Holland as the son of Telemachus, Odisius. Other stars are Anne Hathaway, Zendya, Lupita Nyong’O, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron and John Bernthal.
Odyssey will be completely the first film shot using IMAX cameras. Nolan has previously worked with IMAX, launched in 2008 with The Dark Night. He also used IMAX cameras for inception, intersteller and tetate. His last film, Openeheimer, earned alone from the Imax screening of about 20% of his total box office.
Some movies also traveled in state lines to see Openheimer in Imax 70 mm, selling shows for weeks. The same is expected for Odyssey, as Nolan’s fans love big screen experience.
Universal has already shown a small teaser for Odyssey in theaters before Jurassic World Riberth and Superman. Keeping in mind the tradition of giving priority to theaters, the teaser has not yet been released online.
