Masaba Gupta revealed that she was called a ‘badass’ in school and the boys used to make fun of her
Masaba Gupta revealed how she faced teasing and being called a “stupid kid” in school. She also revealed how she faced discrimination during her school days and preferred to stay in isolation.

Designer-actress Masaba Gupta was raised by her single mother, actress Neena Gupta. In a recent podcast with Faye D’Souza, Masaba revealed how she was teased and called a “bast*** child” by boys in school while studying in seventh grade. She also spoke about the struggles her mother Neena Gupta faced during her pregnancy, as her parents did not support her as she was pregnant out of wedlock.
Masaba revealed that when Neena was pregnant, her parents did not support her “because it was an extramarital affair.” She added, “My father Viv Richards was not around, and friends were around, but it wasn’t the same; everyone had their own lives. She couldn’t tell people she was pregnant from me, so she had to hide her pregnancy. She had no money. When I asked her how she did it all, she simply said, ‘I was so happy to have my baby. I didn’t know how I was going to raise you.'”

When asked if she faced any discrimination at school because of her parents’ past, Masaba said, “It was 100 percent used against me. It was public, and it was very interesting because kids talked about it like adults. I could hear them repeating things they heard at home. One kid said, ‘Hey bast***, I think you’re a bast*** kid.’ This was when I was in the 7th grade. A lot of people couldn’t even understand what I looked like physically or why I looked like that.”

Masaba, who is expecting her first child with her husband, actor Satyadeep Mishra, hardly made any friends in school and preferred living in a bubble.
“The boys used to tease me a lot about my body. I was a professional tennis player, so I had broad shoulders and ripped arms and legs. I also grew very fast, so I wasn’t pretty or feminine, so it was like, where did all this come from? I was very happy in my own environment at school; I did things on my own. I didn’t make good friends at school, which I regret, except for 2-3 friends,” Masaaba said.
Masaba, who is known as a fashion designer, made a successful acting debut with the Netflix show Masaba Masaba, which also starred her mother Neena Gupta.
