Once touted as the most awaited project, now it is losing hope! Following recent big announcements, Disney has again delayed the release of Marvel Studios’ Blade. Initially the film was scheduled to release on November 7, 2025. However, according to Deadline, Disney has decided to prioritize 20th Century Studios’ Predator: Badlands.
The film is a reboot of the original project, which starred Wesley Snipes as the lead character. The Marvel Studios project will star two-time Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali. Blade was initially announced during San Diego Comic-Con in 2019. However, due to the global pandemic, the production and development of the film was delayed.
Production of the MCU’s Blade has been delayed due to a double writer strike in the industry. Also, two big names have left the post of director. Bassam Tarik was initially set to direct the new Blade entry, with production scheduled to begin in late 2022.
However, after his exit, Yann Demange entered as the film’s producer. As of now, the only positive update the film has received is from Mia Goth.
According to reports, the A Cure for Wellness actress will play supervillain Lilith in Blade.
Reports suggest that Kevin Feige will begin production on Blade once he has an excellent script for the film. He wants to make a Blade movie that will provide a unique experience to the audience. Meanwhile, fans of Wesley Snipes’ Vampire Hunter got the opportunity to see him on the big screen again in the only Marvel Studios film released this year.
Snipes’ blade made a cameo in Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine, which grossed a whopping $1.3 billion.
The Blade movie series, launched in the ’90s, was one of the first R-rated superhero entries. Following the success of 1998’s Blade, New Line Cinema released Blade II in 2002 and Blade: Trinity in 2004. Overall, these films grossed $418.1 million at the worldwide box office.
According to reports, Disney has recently announced three untitled Marvel films for February 18, 2028, May 5, 2028, and November 10, 2028.
