The death of Pope Francis in 88 paid tribute to actors, filmmakers and other celebrities in Hollywood. Martin Scorsce, Leonardo Dicaprio, Whip Goldberg, Eva Longoria, Antonio Bundaras and Russell Crowe expressed their grief.

After the death of Pope Francis at the age of 88 on Easter Monday (April 21), many tributes from Hollywood and beyond. From filmmakers to actors, celebrities recalled him as a kind spiritual leader and how he was transferred by his humility, humanity and permanent message of hope.
Filmmaker Martin Scorses are in mourning who met Pope Francis several times and considered him a personal inspiration. In a statement shared with DiversityThe Scorscs said, “He was a remarkable person in every way. He accepted his failures. He distorted knowledge. He distorted goodness.” He said, “The loss for me goes deep. I was lucky enough to know her, and I would miss her appearance and her warmth.”
In 2023, Scorscs announced a new film about Jesus after a meeting with Pope Francis. Then he said, “I have replied to the Pope’s appeal that I only appeal to the artists in such a way how I know: imagining and writing a script for a film about Jesus.”
Scorsce expressed his grief over the Pope’s death. “The disadvantage for me goes deeply – I was lucky enough to know her, and I will miss her appearance and her warmth. The loss to the world is immense. But she left a light, and can never be extinguished,” read in the statement.
Leonardo Dicaprio, who met Pope during the filming of his climate documentary ‘Flood’, shared a tribute on Instagram. “Pope Francis was a transformational leader – not only for the Catholic Church, but also for the environmental improvement and activism (SIC),” he wrote.
Dicaprio highlighted the Pope’s call for unity in the safety of the planet and praised his 2015 Encyclical Lodo C ‘.

Eva Longoria wrote on her Instagram, “Many of us are speaking for being a colleague and marginalized. Your compassion, kindness and humility will always be remembered (SIC).”
